Dintiman Design is a California based textile company that emulates the artisans' atelier of another era in their manufacture of custom hand-woven and hand-dyed fabrics. Artisans, inspired by Robin Dintiman's training in Japan, carefully juxtapose ancient Japanese techniques of hand blockprinting, stenciling and burnishing with contemporary designs and colorations. In their Petaluma warehouse, these artisans work their way, with paintbrush in hand, up and down 22 yard tables, bringing color and life to the yards of silk and linen ground fabric. There is a feeling of intimacy that is manifest by the handmade process.
