As an interior decorator, Jan Showers began building furniture for her clients, creating custom pieces when the appropriate antique couldn't be found. These pieces exuded style, versatility, and glamour. When Jan Showers decided to create her Collection, she looked for designs that continued this tradition. Many pieces were inspired by original antiques found on regular buying trips to Paris. These pieces came from periods as diverse as the Directoire period to twentieth century modern. Solid woods and veneers such as merisier, beech, sycamore, mahogany, rosewood, ebony and macassar ebony are finished with French polish to bring out the richness of their grains and qualities.
