In 1978 Sloan Miyasato opened its first San Francisco Design Center showroom at the original Ice House complex. Sloan Miyasato began by offering Fine Asian Antiques to the trade. The founders were collectors; they had an extraordinary eye for the unique, the original, and the refined. When SFDC relocated to the current South of Market area, Sloan Miyasato became the first permanent lease holder at The Showplace. The first product line to join the Asian Antiques was locally produced Phoenix Day Lighting. In the 1980s and early 1990s fabric lines were added to the showroom, with Fortuny as the "jewel in the crown". Furniture lines, additional lighting products, stone accessories, fine art and floor coverings soon followed and secured Sloan Miyasato's place among the elite wholesale sources at SFDC.
Today, the Asian Antiques Gallery at Sloan Miyasato remains a primary source for rare and magnificent treasures, some of monumental scale. The company takes pride in launching many fine wholesale manufacturers at the San Francisco market. The recent arrival of J. Robert Scott Textiles, offers this iconic California fabric line a newly energized venue. Sloan Miyasato has been fortunate to introduce exciting high-end new-comers Zoe Luyendijk Studios, Cameron Collection/ Meyerland, Gulassa & Co., Silhouette, Sun, Aqua Creations, O Eco Textiles and many more. The launching of the Sloan Miyasato website complete with links to the vendors, has given designers 24/7 access to Sloan Miyasato. The company is dedicated to a strong outside sales program and a culture of controlled evolvement. As we celebrate our first 30 years of success we look forward to serving you for 30 more!
